SDS/2 Customers to Play Prominent Role at 2010 NASCC Conference

At the upcoming NASCC / Structures Congress — to be held May 12-15 in Orlando, Florida — several long-time SDS/2 customers will lead detailing sessions to help educate fellow conference attendees.

Luis Torres from The Steel Detailers will present two sessions during the conference. The first, titled Connection Design: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, will be held Thursday, May 13th from 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. That session will teach attendees how to get EOR approval of shop-friendly connections when connection design is the fabricator's responsibility. Luis will also present at Engineer vs. Detailer: Where Do You Draw the Line? That session will be held on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Bruce Vaughan's Commercial Detailing 101 workshop — scheduled for Thursday from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. — will include information ranging from advice on dealing with architects to miscellaneous steel detailing (countertop supports, toilet partitions, etc.) to working with skin / fascia. Vaughan is president of BV Detailing & Design, Inc.

Industrial Detailing Inc.'s Thomas J. Kramer will present Industrial Detailing 101 on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This session is geared toward detailers who normally work with commercial structures and want to branch out into the industrial market; engineers interested in a detailer's perspective regarding industrial detailing; and detailers new to the business of detailing.
