SDS/2 Users Group Attendees and Sponsors Make Event a Huge Success

On September 18 through 10, SDS/2 customers and partners gathered in Omaha’s Embassy Suites for three days of networking, breakout sessions, and entertainment at the 2013 SDS/2 Users Group Conference.

A fabrication shop tour kicked off the event on Wednesday, and attendees had the opportunity to tour two local fab shops, Drake-Williams Steel and Paxton & Vierling Steel.

Thursday and Friday morning were dominated by breakout sessions offering a closer look at SDS/2 and how it fits into the fabrication process. These sessions were also an excellent time for users to learn more about the intricacies of the software and gain insight from other users. Sessions varied from more introductory tutorials to advanced lessons and exploring commonly missed functions.

Kevin Lea led Thursday’s keynote, talking about the past tools of the trade and reflecting on how far building design and fabrication have come. Lea discussed the future of BIM and its role in internal and external communication.

Attendees spent Thursday evening at the Durham Museum enjoying food, drinks, and conversation. After the meal, Design Data hosted a game show extravaganza where contestants competed in games such as “Steel or No Steel” and “Customer Feud.” Design Data’s Doug Evans hosted and looked the part, changing his outfit and wig between each game.

We’d like to thank all the people who came out for this year’s Users Group Conference, and of course our sponsors and partners who made it all possible!
