The U.S. Department of Transportation released data that details the condition of the nation’s road and bridges by state. This infrastructure report reveals that more than 25% of the nation’s bridges are in “poor” or “mediocre” condition.

The University of Nebraska- Lincoln and MIT are introducing campus maker spaces to encourage innovation. These spaces are cross disciplinary and encourage all students to visit and build out their ideas in a collaborative work environment. Construction of a skyscraper at 111 Murray St. in Manhattan is underway. The 62-story, 480,000 sq. ft. tower includes a sculpture garden with fountains at the base, a lounge with a reflecting pool and a design that has a “gently flared silhouette.” Read more in an article in Building Design+Construction magazine.

The due date for abstracts is August 31, 2015, and those that proceed to the next round of selection will be notified on the week of September 14.
