Applications now accepted for 2016 IDEAS2 Awards

The American Institute of Steel Construction is now accepting applications for their annual IDEAS2 Awards. Winners will be recognized for their innovative use of structural steel. According to AISC’s website, criteria for the award will be based on the following:

  •      Expression of the architectural intent
  •      Application of innovative design approaches to the structural system
  •      Utilization of productivity enhancing construction methods

Projects must fall within a specific two-year window. Steel structures completed form January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2015 will be eligible to receive an award.

Entries will be split into three categories based on U.S. dollar amounts.

  1. Less than $15 million
  2. $15 million to $75 million
  3. More than $75 million

Architecture firms as well as structural engineering firms, general contractors, detailers, fabricators, erectors and more are all encouraged to submit projects and be recognized for their contributions to the steel community.

The judges will use their discretion to issue National and Merit awards, as well as the Presidential Award of Excellence for structural steel engineering and architectural expression.

AISC is a nonprofit whose goal is to advance and celebrate the steel community throughout the United States.
