Keeping You Updated With Our
Networking, Learning and Laughing at the 2015 SDS/2 Users Group ConferenceSeptember 23, 2015
The 2015 SDS/2 Users Group Conference was a success. For three days, steel industry experts and SDS/2 users met to discuss the past, present, and future of the industry and have some fun too!
Keynote speaker Terry L. Salazar of Quilling, Selander, Lownds, Winslett and Moser kicked off day one of the conference. He has practiced law for 28 years and has represented fabricators, erectors, and steel companies. Salazar spoke on industry trends. “You cannot manage your risk, you cannot identify and manage the alligators, if you don’t have all the information,” Salazar urged. The speech was followed by roundtable discussions and a partners reception to end the day.
Day two of the conference was filled with breakout sessions, which included best practices, tutorials, and “boot camps.” After the sessions ended on Thursday, conference goers moved to the Rococo Theatre for Late Night with Design Data – an evening of games, prizes and plenty of laughs. Winners of the Solid Steel Competition were announced during the event. The commercial grand prize was awarded to Sarwar Hasan for the Rock in Rio Zipline Towers, located in Las Vegas. The industrial grand prize went to Aarbee Structures Pvt. Ltd. for the No. 8 Primary Hood in Sudbury, Ontario.
After a night of festivities, conference goers on Friday attended more breakout sessions before the conference was adjourned.
