VTGI, FEG and SidePlate Collaborate on Innovative Project

VTGI

SDS/2 customers Virginia Tidewater Group (VTGI) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Fitzpatrick Engineering Group (FEG) of Cornelius, North Carolina, recently teamed up with SidePlate to develop and implement the first all-bolted SidePlate moment project.

The project team used a shop model review process, which enabled FEG to log on to VTGI's server and approve the model and drawings in real time. This virtual approval meant it took only one day for approvals and eliminated the RFI process.

The 352-ton, three-story medical office building was erected in less than two weeks, with no fabrication errors or misfits in the field.

Blog: New and Improved Material Operations

In recent releases of SDS/2, new and improved material operations have been added to make modeling miscellaneous materials more efficient. In version 7.313, Material Cut Layout was improved to allow cutting multiple materials at one time, rather than only one as was permitted in the past. Multiple Material Rotate is a tool that was added in version 7.318, which allows users to pick multiple materials to rotate them all at one time. Version 7.318 also added new functionality to parametrics to aid in creating mirrors and other copies of materials.
