Solid Steel Competition
Our judges will be looking for:
- Project aesthetics
- Complexity of structure and connections
- Use of SDS2 to solve project challenges. For example, the use of parametrics, custom members, automatic and user-modeled features
- Overall "wow" factor — project uniqueness and creativity in execution
Entry Requirements:
- Submission is free - there is no entry fee for this competition
- We accept one entry per company, per category
- Each submitter must be using SDS/2 Version 2018 and newer
- All projects must have been created within the last three years
- New buildings, major retrofits or expansion projects are eligible
- Complete and nearly complete projects can be submitted

The Paper Machine Hall is an industrial building built to support operations of a state-of-the-art coated recycle board machine.
The Vanderbilt University Residential College A project, located in Nashville, Tennessee was detailed by BV Detailing and Design, Inc.
The state-of-the-art cruise terminal for Royal Caribbean was designed to resemble a futuristic cruise ship, with many different sides to the building’s end walls and roof.
GRAND PRIZE: Industrial | The BWL Energy Park project, located in Lansing, Michigan, is a 250-mw natural gas fired power facility, built to replacing the old coal fired unit. The 500-ton project was detailed by Universal Detailing, Inc., who partnered with Douglas Steel Fabrication.

The Gateway to Space Building Number: M6-0307 project, located at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida was detailed by Arteras Inc.

Whiting Forest of Dow Gardens features 54 acres of woodlands, ponds, apple orchard, meadows, and streams. The forest's Canopy Walk is the nation’s longest at 1,400-feet long.

This 370,000-square-foot, 24-story, LEED® Platinum targeted office building is located in a transitioning, evolving and re-emerging district along West Georgia Street that includes the redevelopment of the former Post Office building and the proposed Vancouver Art Gallery.
