Many factors affect a steel connection in the real world that may be hard to visualize on paper or even in a 3D model. This is especially true with erection, where external factors come into play such as clearance for tools or beam placement. SDS/2’s automated connection design is built with the end goal in mind—a completed project. It is the only steel detailing software with erectability intelligence, considering the complete node in its connection design calculations and reducing the potential for human error when it comes to identifying job site complications.
In a traditional project workflow, steel connections are often the cause of many RFIs and back-and-forth communication throughout the project lifecycle. SDS/2’s can mitigate many of these issues by streamlining the detailing process and automated intelligent connection design.
SDS/2 has a savings with each connection, but shows its strength when that saving is applied to all connections throughout a project. Based on this study, a typical structure utilizing SDS/2 connection design on 10,000 members has an average savings of 13 minutes per connection, resulting in an estimated savings of $433,333.
